Additionally, an event engaging grade 9 to 12 students on agriculture and self-sufficiency was under-way, following a Mandela Day initiative with younger children.

John Dearden reported on upcoming projects and planning efforts, with recent engagement from former students in Jabavu and Cape Town.

These students, involved in youth agriculture panels, will serve as mentors for future initiatives.

John also discussed the newsletter, encouraging Manana to share more visuals to showcase their work, to which she committed with support from WIARM’s secretary.


Euodia Volanie updated on the slow but steady progress of their registration process for agricultural education programs.

A member who attended a “Farming God’s Way” workshop in Gqeberha has started a garden and is recruiting others for future workshops, gaining traction in their community.



Matshedesho Molale noted a visit to Pretoria City Mission, where a small vegetable garden with carrots and spinach persists behind the church, though its maintenance appears limited due to challenges in connecting with the responsible individual.

Nancy Ncube highlighted the International Funding Congress (IFC) pop-up event in Cape Town and an upcoming Johannesburg event on 17th September at the Goethe Institute, focusing on funding and partnerships for the NPO sector.

She clarified that the IFC provides guidance on corporate and multinational partnerships rather than direct fund-raising, with limited spaces available for the Johannesburg event.

Scott Sulsa Solutions showcased a new communications hub in a chapel, equipped for media and video productions to support classroom teaching, sermons, and newsletters.

The setup includes computers, sound desks, amplifiers, and video mixers to enhance community outreach.

Danisa apologised for missing the previous meeting due to a funeral and reported planting 120 Moringa seeds, with plans to update the group on their progress.

Efforts to connect with Thami from Orange Farm were unsuccessful, and follow-up discussions were proposed.
